Financial Twitter’s Walking Dead

I really enjoy reading the opinions of the cast of characters on financial twitter. There is great info, humor, and insight available for free with just  a few clicks. Since I must have too much time on my hands, I imagined these characters after the onset of a full blast zombie apocalypse. Who would survive? Who would be eaten? The possibilities are endless in this post apocalyptic, infected world. Here is how I think things would shake out.

Rick Grimes- Barry Ritholtz, I see him taking charge. He would be fair but ruthless.  Like Rick he does not suffer fools kindly. You better know what you are talking about when you approach him.  This behavior is quite evident with his smack downs of those who troll “The Big Picture”http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/ or suffer from an overload of cognitive dissonance. He could lead the group through a world of the ravenous undead or cannibalistic human predators. His guidance and knowledge of science and psychology would most likely  keep the group alive. There would be one caveat to be aware of.   The  danger of a RITATATORSHIP would be ever present.

Daryl Dixon- Josh Brown, Barry’s loyal lieutenant would be the obvious choice. Though Josh has ALOT more to say than Daryl and is much more hygienic, they have something very important in common. They lived a past life of perceived  shame and have devoted themselves to doing the right thing. Josh is a  Reformed Broker http://thereformedbroker.com/who now uses his knowledge to benefit investors instead of screwing them. Daryl is a Reformed Redneck who saw the error of his ways and now views people by the content of their character. They both have seen the dark side which makes them the best messengers for reforming a ravaged society or investment environment.

Shane Walsh-Charles Gasparino, A perfect pick for the volatile confrontational yet misunderstood Shane. While they both for the most part do the right thing, their methods can be dubious at times. Just like Shane you would want Gasparino at the front lines to fight off an attack of starving zombies or predatory humans. Unfortunately you would also have to worry about an explosive temper which could be set off at any moment. I could definitely see Charlie  shooting Ron Insana and leaving him for Walker bait.

 Hershel Greene – Tadas Viskanta , Like owner of the farm and refuge for the good left in humanity, Tadas sorts through the financial world to aggregate the best of the best on his terrific site, Abnormal Returns. Like Hershel’s, farm, his websitehttp://abnormalreturns.com/ provides all the tools and resources for investors to survive in a dangerous financial landscape. He provides protection and wisdom from experience that has saved the financial life of many investor. Like Hershel, he is particular on who he allows to enter his domain. I just hope he doesn’t meet the same fate as poor Hershel!

Dale- Ben Carlson, Dale was the epitome of a polite voice of reason. His opinion was trusted and valued because he respected others and their opinions. Just Like Ben, Dale knew he did not know all the answers and was willing to use logic and his good nature to try to solve some pretty complex problems. Though he was extremely polite, he was no pushover and would stand his ground even if it put him into potential life threatening situations. Even if Ben eviscerates a financial miscreant, he will do it in a well mannered way. Impossible not to like.

Michonne- Cullen Roche- Though Cullen is obviously not a black woman, he shares a very important quality with this saber wielding heroine. His tongue is as sharp as her samurai sword. While Michonne is capable of behading three zombies at a time with one swipe, Cullen can do the same to  an economist who functions in his own private Idaho. His takedowns on his bloghttp://www.pragcap.com/  can be vicious and very entertaining. An economist who does not understand monetary policy, inside money and how the  banking system works will meet the same fate as the oblivious zombie who dares to cross Michonne’s path.

The trolls who populate twitter stand as much chance against these guys  as the Zombies who challenge Rick’s crew. Like Twitter it is just fun to sit back and watch the fireworks. I mentioned some heroes of this wasteland, maybe next time we can figure out who would be the Governor or The Wolves.
